Based in West Yorkshire, The Beginners Voice-Over Workshop provides an introduction to the voice over industry and an understanding as to what is required to become a successful voice over artist.
It is a common misconception that just because you can speak or have been told that you have a nice voice, you can do voiceovers and this is certainly not the case. It is a skill that requires dedication, practice and commitment. The workshop will give you an insight into the voice-over industry, what is expected of a voice artist and how to get started. During the course you will also record your voiceover demos which will be posted to you on CD.
This 2 day course (one full day and one half day) aims to provide the foundations upon which you can grow as an aspiring voice talent. The workshops are run regularly and places are limited to ensure each attendee receives adequate support and attention.
I have now completed the Sharon Brogden workshop with The Great British Voice Over Company and to say that I am thrilled with the results would be an understatement. Sharon is not only extremely professional and knowledgeable but she so naturally shares her wealth of experience to the fullest to benefit others. She understands people, is warm, most patient and friendly. I would absolutely recommend her workshop to anyone interested in the voice over industry and she is worth every penny and much more. Nothing is missed out. On the final day of the workshop I couldn't believe it was my voice on the show reel and its all thanks to her dedicated time and effort encouraging me and making me feel more confident and believing in myself. Tanya. S. Bartlett. "A fresh of the block, raring to go, new Voice Over Artist" - Attended course August 2012.
P.S. Tanya was awarded her first voiceover job 7 days after completing the beginner's workshop.

"Tanya S. Bartlett has brought my novel to life! She has a lovely, authentic voice, and her scene interpretations are spot on, filled with emotion. The consummate professional, she has been an absolute pleasure to work with, always responsive, finishing our project two months ahead of schedule. And lucky me, she has agreed to work on another one of my books. I couldn't be more satisfied".

REQUIREMENTS:
Voice over is a skill that can be learned and improved upon with practice. Some people are naturals at voice over, but most need at least some form of training and ALL need regular practice.
You may have been told that you have a great voice, but that doesn't mean that you can instantly become a great voice over artist, that's like saying "you've got ten fingers, so you should be able to play classical piano"... Well maybe you could, but not without training and practice!
So what are the requirements to starting out as a voiceover artist?
All you need is a desktop PC or a laptop, a good quality studio microphone (which will be cheaper than you may have thought), sound recording and editing software (some of which is free), a pair of speakers and headphones and a quiet place to work.
Apart from the equipment, you also need a good speaking voice, good reading skills, a desire to make extra money in your spare time... And some basic training... That's where we come in.
